A Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Management

The cards can be used as an integral part of a whole school approach to managing behaviour through positive re-inforcement, providing starting points, ideas, discussion points and opportunities for reflection.
The quality of behaviour within a school is a vital component that underpins all teaching and learning.  All children must be encouraged to behave in ways that enhance both their own learning and that of others.  This is fundamental to establishing an effective learning environment. 
Managing behaviour successfully is one of the  most crucial issues facing schools and teachers. It can make the difference  between a school  being a happy working environment or a place of continual tension and stress.

 Behaviour Management Out of The Box discusses  :-

 1) Whole School  Approach: building a positive and constructive ethos.
     This section is about setting up positive and consistent practice in order to build high quality relationships between children and
      all adults in the school community.


2) The Classroom Environment:   creating a safe and supportive learning  environment.     
     This section looks at establishing daily routines, different styles of teaching and learning  and learning in different situations. 
     This section can be particularly useful in setting up a  classroom for the first time.


3) Rewards and Sanctions: a variety of  tools to support the behaviour policy at whole school and classroom  level..


4) Playground Behaviour: strategies to reinforce the whole school approach in  order for  children to have a safe and fulfilling
     play experience.


 
There is also a CD with this box,  pre-loaded with templates of supporting documents referred to in the box. These can be adapted to meet the needs of  individual schools.
